Flow Maps

http://zburke1988.blogspot.com/2011/04/flow-map.html

As shown above a Flow Map is a mixture flow charts and different maps which show movement from one location to another, such as where planes take off from and land on a daily or yearly basis. This can also be used to see where people migrate too across the country over a span of time. The Flow map is pretty basic and gathering information from it does not take a lot of knowledge which makes it easy for people reading the map. For example a historian who is attempting to study the migration of the people living in the United States from 1660 - 1700 could use a flow map to deduce where the majority of those people migrated too from their original starting location.
